while headed back to america last year, i was persuaded/i caved in and read the latest craze in literature, eat pray love, by elizabeth gilbert. upon realizing i had read all the books in my carry on, and with time to wander around the bangkok airport, i loitered into the bookstore beside my gate. that bright white with pasta and flower fonting caught my eye, and i figured, this will have to do. full of skepticism, i now come to you as one who has joined the bandwagon: it is, in fact, a must-read (beautiful writing, even more beautiful perspective). all this to say, she finds some unity in structuring her year around three i‘s: italy, india, and finally indonesia. since she is my namesake, i would like to take this moment to draw further parallel to our lives–i found the same theme in my own personal travels, except with a different 1/26 of the alphabet: the letter t…
